Alexis Sanchez has joined Inter Milan on loan for the season, joining up with Romelu Lukaku who signed on a permanent deal earlier in the summer.
Sanchez flopped badly at United so is hoping to restart his career in Serie A, the league he played in before signing for Barcelona in 2011. He spent three seasons at Udinese before moving to La Liga and has claimed he is happy to be returning, after being convinced by Lukaku.
I am happy to return to Italian football, then we will see. I want to do only the best for me, for the team and for the Inter fans. We can talk about a championship, I am here to win something. The team has not won for eight years, but has everything to do it. The group is young and strong, there is a coach who wants to win. The presence of Conte was important, he conveys confidence to the players. Lukaku is happy to be here, he also convinced me to come here. Romelu is a very good player. He is my friend and we talk every day. You can see that he is happy to be at Inter and he always wants to win. The team is very much united and this is important if you want to win. The fans have not seen the team win anything for many years so there is great hunger to win.
You would have won more money at new-casinos.uk than for backing Sanchez to score just five goals in the 18 months he scored at United. He came to Old Trafford as one of the best players in the league but leaves under a cloud. Sanchez has claimed he doesn’t regret signing for United despite his form at the club.
It was not the right time to go there, but I do not regret it. United is focusing on young players, they want to grow to and back like they were in the times of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Lukaku will be glad to have a friendly face in the squad after a fairly turbulent few weeks in Milan. He was racially abused by Cagliari ahead of scoring a penalty against them but equally as worrying was the fact an Inter fans’ group released a statement claiming that making monkey noises at black players wasn’t racist and that they behaved in the same way towards black players at rival clubs.
