Remember when Prince George started school? The world couldn’t wait to see the tiny royal rocking up to the school gates. That was actually two years ago – and now, it’s his little sister Princess Charlotte’s turn to pack her pencil case and get ready for the classroom. Although the Cambridges won’t be making the frantic dash to Woolworths (RIP) for notepads, rulers and ink erasers that nobody actually ever uses.
When Charlotte starts school at Thomas’s Battersea next week, she’ll be passing through the school gates alongside her older brother, who has been studying there since 2017.
However, it has been reported that while they’re both attending the same school, their school fees will actually be different. In fact, Charlotte’s will be less than George’s.
Why?
According to the school’s website, the fee for every child of the same family varies, so the more children you send to the school the lower the fees will be. The rate for Reception and Year Two-tier are £6,429, and for a second child it’s £6,305 – meaning that Charlotte will be paying £124 less. If Louis were to also attend Thomas’s, his fees would be in the region of £5,790.
It was announced earlier this year that Charlotte would join her brother at the prestigious school, with headmaster Simon O’Malley saying they were ‘delighted’.
‘We are delighted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother, Prince George, at Thomas’s Battersea,’ he said in a statement.
‘We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September.’
