XBOX Games with Gold is getting new games for September and Microsoft has just announced what you could be playing.
This time around, there are some seriously impressive offerings – especially if you like action or fighting games.
This month, you’ll be able to download and play Hitman: The Complete First Season for free.
It becomes available on September 1, and is a reboot of the franchise – letting you assassinate baddies across large levels.
Also available is Earth Defense Force 2025, an alien-blasting shooter with wildly powerful weapons.
On September 16, you’ll be able to get your hands on We Were Here and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, too.
August’s best game was Gears of War 4.
It’s the 2016 entry to the iconic third-person shooter series, and takes place 25 years after the events of Gears of War 3.
It received generally positive reviews, with critics praising the campaign, multiplayer and Horde modes.
Also available for August was Forza Motorsport 6, a hit racing game.
The visually impressive racer was released worldwide in September 2015, and features more than 450 cars.
Additionally, you can race across 27 tracks from around the world – seven of which are new to the Forza Motorsport series.
On Xbox 360, players were able to play Torchlight for free in the first half of August, followed by Castlevania: Lord of Shadow in the second half.
July’s Games with Gold line-up including creepy story-driven platformer Inside and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
In June, Xbox gamers enjoyed NHL 19, Rivals of Aether, Earth Defence Force 2017 and the all-time classic Portal.
In May, gamers were able to download Marooners for the whole month.
The Golf Club 2 will be available from May 16 until June 15.

You could play Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon from May 1 until May 15.
And Comic Jumper was available from May 16 to May 31.
All of the Xbox 360 offerings were be available to download and play on Xbox One.
In April this year you could play Technomancer for the whole month.
Outcast Second Contact was available from April 16 to May 15.
Sat Wars: Battlefront was free to play from April 1-15.
And, you could play Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 from April 16-30.
In March you could download Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion all month long.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 was available from March 16-April 15.
From March 1 to March 15 you could download and play Xbox classic Star Wars: Republic Commando, while from March 16 to March 31 you could get the Xbox 360 game Metal Gear Rising.
All month long players could download Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon for Xbox One.
This retro Castlevania-esque action game came out last May — and if it passed you by then, you should definitely check it out.
From February 16 (until March 15) you could add Super Bomberman R to your collection , if you’re hankering for more action with an old-school flavour.
There were also some older-system games for you to check out — there’s the Xbox 360 Assassin’s Creed Rogue (available from February 1-15) and the Xbox Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (February 16-28).
January’s Xbox Games With Gold line-up included one of the 2018’s greatest games, Celeste.
The other Xbox One freebie was the racing game WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship, which is available until February 15.
The Xbox 360 Games with Gold for January were acclaimed titles as well, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is the first game free from January 1 to 15.
The latter half of the month gave gamers the option to collect Far Cry 2. Via backwards compatibility, both games are playable on Xbox One.
Games With Gold is Microsoft’s answer to the free games you get with Sony’s PlayStation Plus.
You can get the free games on Xbox if you subscribe to Xbox Live Gold – something that’s required for online play.
Then, each month you receive four free games, two on the latest console and two for the previous generation.
These are yours to keep for as long as you have your Xbox Live Gold membership running.
