Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has outlined what Jack Clarke needs to do in order to break into his team.
Clarke has yet to feature for Leeds in the Championship this season with his only two appearances coming in the Carabao Cup.
The 18-year-old completed a summer switch to Tottenham and was immediately loaned back to his former club for the duration of the 2019/20 campaign.
Bielsa has challenged Clarke to fight for a place in his side and compete with the other players who can operate out wide.
Clarke’s chances of featuring for the Elland Road outfit are also made even more difficult by the fact that only five loan players can be named in a match day squad with Leeds currently having six players on a temporary basis.
He has found himself named in the Under-23 side on a couple of occasions since his return to the club with Bielsa admitting that he is monitoring his attitude.
“He showed in previous times he’s an unbalanced player. He has to show it again these skills he has. Harrison, Costa, Stevens, Clarke and Pablo can all play as wingers. He’s fighting with these players for a chance. He competed in previous times with Alioski as a winger too. Now he needs to do the same,” Biesla told Leeds Live.
“He is fighting for his position like everyone. He is doing this. I am always watching. I analyse the training, cup, Championship or under-23 games and his behaviour and after this I make my conclusions. I am thinking he will be in the team, but sometimes I am right and sometimes I am wrong,” he went on to add when asked if Clarke needs to improve.
