LEGIA WARSAW fans have taunted the Rangers support by unfurling a giant banner with the face of the POPE.
Ibrox has 3,000 empty seats for tonight’s Europa League play-off after Uefa hammered Gers over sectarian singing.
And it appears the Polish club’s fans took the opportunity to wind up their rival supporters.
The giant banner showed the face of Pope John Paul II, who hailed from Poland.
Underneath his face were the words ‘be not afraid’.
Meanwhile, Rangers placed a banner with the message “#EqualGame” in the closed section of the Broomloan Stand this evening.
It is part of the Uefa sanction over the sectarian singing heard at last month’s game against St Joseph’s.
The Light Blues also urged supporters to email them if they “witness any inappropriate behaviour” during tonight’s game.
They displayed messages on the large LED boards at Ibrox ahead of the match.
It read: “Rangers Football Club recently launched its ground-breaking diversity and inclusion campaign ‘Everyone Anyone’ and wishes to remind every supporter that there is no place in Ibrox stadium for discriminatory behaviour.
“It is vital we represent Rangers in a positive manner and refrain from embarrassing our club.”
