Opinion: Pochettino is part of the problem for poor Spurs form

While the players out on the pitch must take responsibility for the performance they put in today, Pochettino also made some huge errors in judgement.

I believe that Spurs would have created far more chances if Christian Eriksen was on the pitch from the start against Newcastle.

The Great Dane made a difference when entering the game again this week, but why was he not part of the first XI?

Spurs barely registered a shot on goal all match and the wingers on the pitch had no space to run in behind.

It always looked as if it would take a pin-point cross or a special pass to unlock a stubborn Newcastle defence, but Eriksen was only given half an hour to turn the game on its head.

Not only do I believe that he should have started, but also Jan Vertonghen. In my opinion, Spurs would not have conceded that Newcastle goal if Jan was on the pitch over Sanchez. The young centre-back got sucked in when Vertonghen would not have and the Belgian so very rarely puts a foot wrong.

A weakened Pochettino XI and subs that were too little too late from the Argentine cost Spurs today I think.
