Brandon Morrow actually pitched, off a mound, to a hitter!
It’s not much, but it’s the most positive update on Morrow in several months. He’s still in Arizona trying to recover from his elbow injury and on Wednesday he threw some live BP. The Cubs still have to wait to see how he responds.
Morrow last pitched on July 15, 2018, went on the injured list, tried to come back and was shut down for good in September. Then, he had surgery in his elbow in November, wasn’t expected to be back until May, but he’s just suffered setbacks ever since.
Fans shouldn’t expect to see Morrow throw one more pitch in a Cubs uniform, but for the first time in a long time he sounded confident about a return.
Two weeks ago, Morrow said this to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers.
“I guess not more than a month away from being back,” Morrow said.
Hey, it’s more than nothing. Keep your fingers crosses, I guess.
