Report: Marcus Edwards’ future could be decided in the next two weeks
According to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold, Tottenham youngster Marcus Edwards is not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans and could leave to join a foreign club before the close of the European transfer window.
Edwards spent last season on loan at Dutch Eredivisie side Excelsior and particularly impressed during the second half of the season.
The 20-year-old was allowed to go on a trial with Brentford over the summer, but the Bees decided against signing the youngster.
The midfielder who was even likened with Lionel Messi by Pochettino a few years ago (Sky Sports) is down to the final year of his contract with the club.
Gold suggests that the club will this look to sell him on a permanent basis with Germany or the Netherlands said to be Edwards’ most likely destination.
It is clear that if Edwards did stay at the club and decide to run out his contract, he will have no chance of first-team football with too many big names ahead of him in the pecking order.

Edwards’ fall from grace yet again proves how talent alone is no guarantee of success with young players. They have to have the right mentality to be willing to learn and get better. While Edwards might still go on to have a good career, it is clear that the youngster has missed the opportunity to make it at Spurs
