“Nothing surprises me in football” – Ledley King speaks on Eriksen’s future
Tottenham Hotspur were certainly made to work hard for their victory on Saturday against newly promoted Aston Villa.
Dean Smith’s side led for the majority of the match with Spurs having to rely on three goals in the last fifteen minutes to secure the win.
Tottenham legend Ledley King highlighted the introduction of Christian Eriksen as a pivotal moment which helped to turn the tide of the match.
The Dane, who found himself named among the substitutes was brought on by Mauricio Pochettino in the second half and played a key role in helping to break the visitor’s resolve.
When asked about Eriksen’s future, the 38-year-old said that the playmaker was a key member of the squad but admitted that he wouldn’t be surprised if he was to leave this summer.
Kane said in an interview with Sky Sports: “Nothing surprises me in football but Christian’s been an important member of the team and he still continues to be so.
“We saw at the weekend the impact that he had. So at the moment, he looks happy, he’s been involved in all of pre-season and he’s been involved in the game and had an impact.
“Of course, he’s an important player, as they all are in the squad, so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

As it is apparent that Eriksen is not one of Real Madrid’s prime targets this summer, what would suit all parties if the 27-year-old signs an extension with a release clause that will allow him to leave if the likes of Madrid come calling in the future.
