Featherweight bout pits Ashleigh Grimshaw against John Teixeira at Bellator 226
A featherweight bout has been added to the Bellator 226 prelims.
Thirty-one-fight veteran Ashleigh Grimshaw will make his Bellator debut against the returning John Teixeira. A promotion official confirmed the booking with MMA Junkie on Tuesday, following a post by WhoaTV.
Bellator 226 will take place Sept. 7 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. The main card will stream on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie.
Grimshaw, 37, was scheduled to make his promotional debut in the Bellator 218 headliner in March. However, an injury forced him out of his bout with Emmanuel Sanchez, and he was replaced by Georgi Karakhanyan.
A seasoned veteran on the regional scene in the United Kingdom, Grimshaw (20-10-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) has competed most notably for Cage Warriors and BAMMA. “The White Wolf” hasn’t lost a bout since Cage Warriors 75, when he was defeated by up-and-comer Paddy Pimblett. He currently rides a four-fight winning streak entering Bellator 226.
Brazil’s Teixeira (22-4-2 MMA, 5-3 BMMA) will return to action for the first time since the aforementioned Bellator 218 card in March. That night, Teixeira rebounded with a unanimous-decision victory over Kevin Croom. The win came on the heels of three straight losses to Daniel Weichel, Pat Curran and A.J. McKee.
