After more than 24 hours of heavy clashes with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other terrorist groups, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) 4th Division captured two key hilltops in the northern Hama countryside.
According to pro-government sources, army units managed to secure the al-Zuiqat and 112 hills. Both hills overlook the town of Kabani, a stronghold of several terrorist groups.
A source in the 4th Division told SouthFront that over 100 militants, mostly foreigners, were killed or injured during the clashes in northern Lattakia.
Two days ago, militants stationed in Kabani launched a barrage of rockets at the Russian Hmeimim airbase in southern Lattakia. The rockets landed in the airbase’s outskirt, killing two civilians and injuring four others.
If the army success in capturing Kabani, HTS and its allies will be forced to withdraw from large parts of the northern Lattakia countryside. The town overlooks most of the militants’ supply routes in the region.
