FOOTBALL has a habit of making fans laugh and cry in equal measure.
And during a Scottish Championship encounter between Partick Thistle and Dundee United last night, there was a moment of hilarity.
After the ball trickled off the touchline for a throw-in, it disappeared into a gap under the advertising hoarding.
Instead of fetching for a new match ball, the referee stopped the game.
A ball boy emerged and he got down on his hands and knees and climbed inside the gap of the hoarding before retrieving the ball.
United came from behind to beat Thistle 2-1 and maintain their winning start to the league campaign.
Speaking after his side’s win, United head coach Robbie Neilson said: “I actually thought we started the game all right. We passed the ball about and had a couple of chances.
“We gave away a very sloppy goal. That allowed Partick to sit in then I thought we answered a lot of questions at half-time.
“People were maybe looking at us saying, ‘are we going to crumble or come out fighting?’ And I think in the end we got the result we deserved.”
