Phil Neville’s son Harvey named on Man Utd U18s’ bench to face Sunderland
PHIL NEVILLE’S son Harvey made the bench for Manchester United U18’s clash against Sunderland.
The Red Devils youngster is hoping for a breakthrough season after a promising end to the previous campaign.
Harvey, 17, was named among the United U18 subs alongside former Ajax starlet Dillon Hoogewerf.
He grabbed three appearances in a row for the side in February and March – on his way to be come the third Neville to star for the Red Devils.
In fact, Harvey has already followed in the footsteps of his dad and uncle and plays in a right-back position.
He also made his Uefa Youth League debut last season – having returned to the club that summer – and came off the bench against Valencia kids in December.
The teen faced his old pals as he had played for the Spanish side’s youth teams for the three previous seasons.
Harvey moved to Spain when his dad became Valencia’s assistant manager in 2015 – and having spent two years in the Manchester City academy.
Phil then explained the family was worried his son would have had limited opportunities to come through the ranks in the blue half of the town.

He told The Times in 2017: “United have slipped down in terms of the quality of kids they are producing. City have overtaken United, getting the best in the area.
“My lad was at City and I’m not going to criticise them – fantastic coaches there – but I sensed there was always that thing, ‘We’ve got the best academy, but can they get in the first team?’
“That will be good for the academy because they’ll have to raise their bar.”
