Lawyer fears ‘murderer’ with demonic face tattoos won’t get fair trial
Lawyers for an accused murderer with demonic face tattoos fear their client will not get a fair trial.
William Bottoms, 29, is accused of shooting two men to death in the backseat of a car in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Bottoms’s attorney, Jarvis Antwine, said he is worried his client’s heavily inked face will sway a jury into a biased guilty verdict.
As he questioned the first panel of 14 potential jurors on Monday, Antwine immediately brought up the prominent tattoos and said: ‘That’s the first thing you see with him.’
Many of the jurors said they have no opinion regarding the devil horns and skull teeth on Bottom’s face, the Advocate reported.
One potential juror said: ‘It’s a personal choice,’ when he was asked about the tattoos.
A female potential juror said she does not personally like tattoos, but would not judge Bottoms solely on that basis.

Prosecutors said Bottom’s ex-girlfriend, Megan Gaylord, told investigators that she was in the car when Bottom’s killed Williams and Hussaine.
She said that she, Bottoms, and the two victims were high on drugs when Bottoms became paranoid and shot the two men.
Gaylord, who was driving, then drove to Bottoms’ house where he used bleach to destroy fingerprints and evidence before abandoning the car in St Helena, according to the arrest report.
The bodies were later discovered. Both had been shot in the head and had been covered with a sheet.
Bottoms faces a mandatory life in prison sentence if he is found guilty.
