Tiger Woods sure didn't look great day before start of FedEx Cup Playoffs

The FedEx Cup Playoffs, which are hard for even diehard golf fans to get really excited for, start Thursday with the first round of the Northern Trust at Liberty National.

And while Tiger Woods provided the most memorable moment of last year’s playoffs – when the crowd followed him up the 72nd fairway to watch him put the finishing touches on his win at the Tour Championship- it sure doesn’t look like there will be any magical moments from the greatest golfer of all-time this time around.

Last time we saw Tiger he was grimacing his way around Royal Portrush before missing the cut at the Open Championship last month. And now it doesn’t look like he’s doing all that much better.

Woods was barely able to get through Wednesday’s pro-am as his tight back limited him to barely any shots on the back nine.

Tiger spoke briefly about his new normal after his round:

And that’s where Tiger currently stands – we can’t depend on the GOAT being a factor because right now his health is just too hard to predict on any given day.

While the weather in Northern Ireland made it easy to write that one off as not a good combination for someone with a fused back, this week’s weather just outside of New York City would seem like it might be just what Tiger would need to go back to being Tiger.

But apparently not, because those of us who have bad backs know all to well – nothing really matters in regards to how your back feels. Some days you get out of bed and everything is awful, other days you get up and things are a little less awful.

Maybe I’m wrong here and Tiger will be fine and will be able to make a run in the playoffs.

Or maybe it will be more like the scenes we saw at Royal Portrush, which made the scenes from Augusta way back in April seem that much further away.
