ESPN's Molly Qerim walked off set after Max Kellerman said Kobe's on his 'all-NBA worst team'
ESPN’s First Take thrives on its personalities saying ridiculous things in hopes of a reaction. And Max Kellerman appears to know that formula well because his commentary had his own host, Molly Qerim, walking off set mid-segment.
During Tuesday’s episode, Ryan Clark and Kellerman were discussing the recent “All-Decade” teams from NBA.com, and Kobe Bryant was notably named to the third team — behind players like Anthony Davis and Carmelo Anthony.
Clark thought that Bryant deserved a better spot in the rankings, but Kellerman predictably took the contrarian role and didn’t think Kobe deserved to be amongst the decade’s top 15 players at all. According to Kellerman, Kobe would be on the “all-NBA worst team.”
At that point, Qerim walked off set and shouted, “Goodbye!”
I’m not exactly sure what an “all-NBA worst team” even means because there were plenty of worse players than Kobe — an All-Star in every season from 2010 to 2016 — this past decade.
Kellerman’s beef with Kobe was basically about his points per game numbers, which he misstated as 22 points. Kobe averaged 24.7 points per game between 2010 and 2016.
Twitter joined in with Qerim and roasted Kellerman for that take.
