Indians unveil Players’ Weekend names, monochromatic jerseys
It’s Francisco Lindor, now with more emojis!
The Cleveland Indians have unveiled their nicknames of choice for the 2019 Players’ Weekend. They, along with the rest of baseball, will wear monochromatic jerseys to draw more attention to players’ custom equipment, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Francisco Lindor, aka Mr. Smile (featuring emojis that I can’t use in my editor), will be one of 30 Players’ Weekend Ambassadors. The Indians themselves will be hosting the Royals during the event, August 23 through August 25, and will get to choose which uniforms they wear.
Some Indians players chose old favorites, such as Shane Biebers “Not Justin”, Jason Kipnis’ “Dirtbag”, Carlos Santana’s “Slamtana”, and Roberto Pérez’s “Bebo.” Some, on the other hand, went all-in on emojis — a great idea that unfortunately looks kind of terrible on the black and white jerseys.

While it technically is no longer Indians news, Trevor Bauer has apparently found a way to let MLB him pay up on his bet with former Driveline Baseball tech and current Philadelphia Phillies minor-league hitting coordinator, Jason Ochart. He’ll be known as “J OCHART” for the Reds’ weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
