NICK KYRGIOS is renowned for being controversial and losing his cool.
Throwing chairs and arguing with umpires is not out of the ordinary for the petulant Australian.
But things boiled over dramatically during a changeover in his Citi Open last-16 tie against Yoshihito Nishioka.
During a heated exchange of words, Kyrgios, 24, threw his water bottle in disgust at the umpire’s chair.
Kyrgios tried to defend himself as he said: “It slipped out of my hand. It slipped out of my hand.
“I was trying to take a drink and it slipped out of my hand.”
The incident was latest in an ever-growing list of controversial moments.

Kyrgios went on to win the match – 6-2, 7-5 – and he will face Norbert Gombos in the quarter-finals.
Speaking after his victory over Nishioka, Kyrgios said: “I came out on fire.
“My serve is my main weapon; I feel like I’ve got control of that all the time, and I want to take advantage of it.
“I don’t want to rally too much with guys like Yoshi.”
