Stocks futures fall further after U.S. July payrolls rise 164,000 with unemployment at 3.7%
Stock-index futures were lower Friday after the U.S. Labor Department reported a 164,000 rise in July payrolls, compared to Marketwatch forecasts for 171,000 gain. Unemployment was unchanged 3.7% against expectations for 3.6%. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were down 0.35% to 26,452, while S&P 500 futures were off 0.45% at 2,938 and Nasdaq-100 futures were down 0.9% at 7,743. Stock futures had fallen further overnight in the wake of President Trump's announcement Thursday of further tariffs on Chinese imports.
