Aquinas is picked to repeat as the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) women's volleyball champion. The head coaches in the league gave the Saints nine of the 11 first-place votes as Aquinas topped the WHAC preseason poll with 117 points. The Saints are coming off their best season in more than a decade and narrowly missed advancing to bracket play at the NAIA National Championship, losing in pool play based on a tiebreaker. Madonna finished second with 99 points and two first-place nods. The 2018 WHAC Tournament champion, Cornerstone, was picked third with 89 points and a three-way tie for fourth ensued: Lawrence Tech, Lourdes, and UNOH all accumulated 81 points.
UM-Dearborn starts the season with a match against Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Sept. 21. WHAC play starts Sept. 11 with the first round of the conference tournament slated for Nov. 13. The top eight teams at the end of regular season qualify for the tournament.
