The featherweight champ looked mortal for the first time in years against Dustin Poirier. Against Frankie Edgar at UFC 240, it was like water off a duck’s back.
What can I say? Max Holloway tried to do something amazing and ran into peak Dustin Poirier. Seeing him stagger backwards across the octagon in the first round of their title fight left me stunned.
To come back and put in on Frankie Edgar like it was no big thing... that is something special. I sat down to rewatch the fight and no single image could capture the feeling. Instead I put together this 16 image storyboard of their fight. As many of you know, I am writing and illustrating a book about MMA.
