CONCORD — A 27-year-old man is in county jail after his firearms-related arrest in connection with a shooting incident at a mobile home park Monday night, authorities said Tuesday.
According to a police statement, officers responded to the park off San Miguel Road for a report of a man firing a gun.
Police dispatchers said the caller said that her brother, Jesus Flores, came home upset about losing his job before going outside and firing multiple rounds.
As a California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division air operations helicopter also responded, Concord officers, including members of the department’s SWAT team and tactical negotiators, set a perimeter and called Flores, who did not cooperate with requests to come outside.
After several hours, Flores walked outside and was taken into custody. He was later arrested on suspicion of assault on a person with a firearm and shooting an illegal firearm, and taken to Martinez county jail, where he was listed in custody Tuesday night on $400,000 bail, according to a county records check.
Officers recovered a gun and multiple shell casings outside the trailer, police said.
“We know that these types of incidents can be extremely intense and appreciate the cooperation from the nearby residents and other community members who were impacted by this event,” an officer said Tuesday in a social-media post.
Police did not return a call requesting additional details Tuesday night.
