Shkodran Mustafi’s dad insists there is ‘nothing in’ transfer talk with defender desperate to stay at Arsenal
SHKODRAN MUSTAFI’S dad Kujtim is adamant his son is going nowhere despite exit talk.
Unai Emery is keen to get rid of the German centre-back, who has struggled since his 2016 switch.
But Mustafi, 27, is desperate to stay and his agent father has played down talk of a move after reports Roma were keen.
He Romanews: “It’s news to me.
“There’s nothing in it. There has been no contact with Roma or any other Italian club.”
Arsenal are on the verge of completing a move for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe in a £72million deal.
But Emery is also looking to strengthen his defence and the departure of Mustafi would leave him short with the Premier League kick-off less than two weeks away.
Captain Laurent Koscielny is desperate to leave the club while new boy William Saliba will spend this season on loan at St Etienne.

Monaco have been linked with a swoop for Mustafi, who arrived for £35m in 2016 from Valencia.
The World Cup winner has made several big errors throughout his time at The Emirates and it appears it will not only be the club’s supporters who would be happy to see him leave.
Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang does not seem too upset by that possibility either after he “liked” an Instagram post suggesting Mustafi could be joining Monaco.
