Jeff McNeil left today’s game against the Pirates after getting hit by a pitch from Pirates’ starter Chris Archer. The Mets have announced that he is experiencing a shin contusion, and that X-Rays came back negative.
Aaron Altherr pinch hit for McNeil during his next turn at-bat.
The hit by pitch began the Mets’ six-run first inning. Michael Conforto followed McNeil’s at-bat with a two-run homerun, as the Mets struck early against the Pirates’ right-hander. It was the 15th time McNeil has been hit by a pitch this season.
