‘Spree killer teens who “murdered 3” on “suicide mission” as police close in’
Two teenagers who are believed to have killed three people on a Canadian highway are on a ‘suicide mission,’ one of the boy’s fathers said.
Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, and Kam McCleod, 19, are charged with killing Chynna Deese, a 24-year-old American, her 23-year-old Australian boyfriend, Lucas Fowler, and Leanard Dyck, 64, of Vancouver, who Royal Canadian Police idenfied late Wednesday.
RCMP Police Corporal Julie Courchaine said police ‘are coming from all over’ to Gilliam, a small town in Manitoba, where the teens are believed to be.
Alan Schmegelsky, Bryer’s father, told Canadian Press that he believes his son wants to be killed by police because ‘he wants his pain to end.’
With tears in his eyes, Schmegelsky said: ‘Basically, he’s going to be dead today or tomorrow. I know that. Rest in peace, Bryer. I love you. I’m so sorry all this had to happen.’
‘He wants his hurt to end. They’re going to go out in a blaze of glory. Trust me on this.’
The pair of suspected spree killers was originally feared to be missing, but they became suspects in the case on Tuesday.
Graham exits Emmerdale and reunites with Joe Tate?Schmegelsky said Bryer ‘is in very serious pain’ and had a troubled childhood after his parents split in 2005, turning to YouTube and video games as his main influences.
‘A normal child doesn’t travel across the country killing people. A child in some very serious pain does,’ the father said.
Schmegelsy said his son and McCleod said they were headed off to Alberta to look for work after Bryer was disappointing with his job at Walmart in Port Alberni, which he started after high school.
He said he remembers Bryer buying a black suit with his second paycheck.
‘Now I realize it’s his funeral suit,’ Schmegelsky said.
BTS cut ties with PUMA after five years as they 'sign new FILA deal'According to the RCMP, Deese and Fowler were shot dead on the Alaska Highway near Liard Hot Springs, close to the Canada-Alaska border after they reportedly had trouble with their vehicle’s engine.
Fowler’s father, New South Wales Chief Police Inspector Stephen Fowler, said: ‘As a police officer, you work with families all the time…But nothing prepares me, nothing prepares my family for what we are going through now.’
Dyck, a botany lecturer at the University of British Columbia, was found 300 miles away from the murdered couple. Police found a burning truck that Dyck was believed to be driving.
RCMP Sergeant Janelle Shoihet said: ‘We believe that they are likely continuing to travel.’ Authorities have not revealed what evidence connects the teens to the killings.
