Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne facing SIX MONTHS out after injuring ACL against Borussia Dortmund
NATHANIEL CLYNE is facing six months on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate ligament injury during the pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund.
The 28-year-old has flown back to the UK to receive treatment after he picked up the knee injury against BVB on Saturday in Indiana.
He had travelled with the squad to Boston for the match against Sevilla, but flew back to England after tests confirmed he would be out until the New Year.
Commenting on the news, boss Jurgen Klopp said: “What can I say other than how gutted we all are for Clyney.
“He was training and playing so well – he was in outstanding shape.
“Clearly an injury of this nature isn’t a happy moment for any player, but the silver lining for him is that, according to the medical guys, it’s a straightforward ACL injury.
“This means fixing it and coming back from it should follow a path that is free from pitfalls and complications.”
The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Clyne, who has just one year left to run on his contract at Anfield.
