It has been a little over a year since the new government set up office and the fruits of the new government are finally beginning to show. When the Tourism, Culture and Arts Ministry first set up shop, their first order of business was to quickly launch another public logo design competition in search of a new logo.
After vetting through thousands of applications, the final winner is 23 year old graphic artist Alfred Phua. The new logo is inspired by batik print motifs. It puts the national flower and Sarawak’s mascot along with a strand of wild fern painted in the colours of the Jalur Gemilang. The logo has been met with mass approval from the nation. A far cry from the reactions after the launch of the previous logo with some 8000 Malaysians signing an online petition to have the logo dropped.
In line with the launch of the beautiful new tourism logo, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir has called out to all Malaysians as well. He emphasised that all Malaysians should play a role in becoming in good hosts. While the culture and the beauty of our country attracts visitors it is the hospitality that will make them stay and return.
So let’s take on the duty and play the hospitable host and recommend these unique locations to the show best of the country.
