TOYOTA Motor Philippines (TMP) from January to June this year sold 73,454 vehicles, securing 42.6% of the domestic auto market. Of the company’s six-month total, 10,554 units of these were Toyota Hilux pickups — the most in the segment.
TMP said deliveries of the Hilux this year represented a 35% increase from the comparable period in 2018. The growth, according to the company, illustrates the “growing demand for commercial vehicles.
It noted Hilux sales were highest in Metro Manila, with 4,261 units sold from January to June. Following the capital region was Central Luzon with 1,219 units sold.
TMP vice-president for marketing Elijah Marcial noted “Hilux is synonymous with Toyota.”
“The model has been in our lineup for more than five decades, and it proves itself time and again to be the prime example of Toyota’s strength as a manufacturer,” she said.
TMP offers 12 variants of the Hilux, the cheapest of which costs P829,000.
The model is also included in the Toyota Dealightful Savings promo in which customers can avail of up to P100,000 in cash discount (for the 4×4 G variant). The promo runs until July 31.
“Through the years, the Hilux garnered a global reputation for its sturdiness. Its overall utility as a pickup truck, combined with a high ground clearance and excellent towing power, makes for a reliable daily hauler for business and family use,” Marcial said.
