Monterey Bay Aquarium launches ‘Seafood Watch’ food truck in Bay Area
How about a great fish meal — with a clean conscience on the side?
The Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Food Truck will be rolling into the Bay Area from this weekend through September with an ocean-friendly lineup of casual eats.
What’s on the menu? Think Cajun-style tacos, chile-lime lettuce wraps or tamarind banh mi, all made with West Coast rockfish, a sustainable, green-rated seafood considered a “Best Choice” by the aquarium. The recipes were created in consultation with Little Green Cyclo, a fave Bay Area food truck, and you can mix-and-match the seasoning options. Vegans can have their meals made with butternut squash, kale and candied walnuts.
First stop for the Seafood Watchmobile will be this weekend’s Menlo Summer Fest, July 20-21 in downtown Menlo Park. Admission is free to the street festival, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days on Santa Cruz Avenue.
That will be followed by a series of San Francisco appearances at various events and food festivals: July 23 at Food Truck Lane at the Salesforce Transit Center; July 28 at the Presidio Picnic; Aug. 1 at Presidio Twilight; Aug. 3 at Shuck Yeah! National Oyster Day at the SoMa StrEat Food Park; Aug. 4 at the Stern Grove music festival; Aug. 17 at the Noise Pop Block Party; Aug. 18 at Stern Grove; Aug. 20 at Food Truck Lane at Salesforce; Aug. 23 at Fort Mason Center; and Sept. 1 at the Presidio Picnic.
