Picked up a copy of the book 'Shades: The short life and tragic death of Erich Schaedler' in a charity bookshop in Perth last week and have just taken the time to have a flick through it. I remember Shades better from his second spell at Easter Road so maybe hadn't fully appreciated what a beloved player he was and how much he in turn loved the club. He also formed a great bond with the Dundee fans during his four years at Dens, but it seems clear it was Hibs who were always closest to his heart.
I remember reading about his death in the papers and it's hard to believe it's more than 30 years since he died (he was only 36).
For those who saw him regularly during his peak years, what are your memories of him?
