Cruel animal abuser buried tortured puppy in the sand and left her to die

An animal abuser buried a tiny puppy in some sand on a public beach then left the vulnerable animal to die.

The badly injured dog, named Leialoha, was found swollen, sunburned, and missing nearly 90% of her fur, Crimestoppers Honolulu wrote on Facebook.

A witness reported that an unidentified man wielding a machete buried the puppy on the beach on July 9.

Rescue workers from the animal agency, PAWS of Hawaii, rushed to the scene to rescue the trapped pup.

The group wrote: ‘This beautiful girl was found by one of our team members. Someone had just buried her and they had a machete so who knows what was next.’

Leialoha was taken to Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services to recover, PAWS wrote online in a post that featured pictures of the dog buried, as well as in a kennel with bright-red skin.

Honolulu police are now looking for the suspect, described by the witness as a 170lb man who they plan to charge with cruelty to animals in the first degree if found.

Officials said Leialoha suffered cuts to then leg, and a ‘severe skin disease and dehydration.’

On Wednesday, Paws said a woman named Amanda volunteered to be the the dog’s foster mom. They wrote: ‘Our beautiful Leialoha was given her first bath today, poor girl was bleeding from every inch of her body.’

‘…After her bath she went for a little news interview. What a star Now she is back at home enjoying her burgers from Raw Dog Hawaii.’

Leialoha’s recovery continued and on Saturday, PAWS quoted Amanda saying: ‘Leialoha has come so far since Tuesday night.

‘Initially, she would only leave her kennel to go to the bathroom.’

‘Last night, she came out, while we had friends over to see what was for dinner and has been liking being under the coffee table.

‘She has a long way to go, but the worst is over.’
