Toddler ran towards grandfather and fell under blades of moving lawnmower
A two year-old boy is seriously ill after running towards his granddad and falling under the blades of a moving lawnmower.
The youngster, who has not been named, moved towards his grandpa William Waltermire as he was moving the lawn of their home in Commiskey, Indiana, on Saturday.
But Waltermire was reversing the ride-on mower at the time, and did not appear to have realized that the child was running towards him.
The youngster then slipped and fell under the mower, according to Jennings County Sheriff’s Office.
Waltermire and wife Beverly then rushed to the sheriff’s office requesting an ambulance.
A spokesman explained: ‘According to statements given by them, they stated that William was mowing the yard at (their home).
‘The 2 year old ran towards his grandfather as the grandmother gave chase after him.

‘The grandparents met with Rescue 20 and the grandson was transported to St Vincent Jennings Hospital.
‘He was shortly flown from the hospital to Riley Hospital for serious injuries.
‘Deputies are still investigating and thus far calling it a terrible accident. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.’
Further updates on the toddler’s condition have not been given.
