Someone with better knowledge of the farm system can tell me if I am way off here, but based upon MiLB statistics, Jonah Heim looks like the real deal; throwing out 51% of base stealing attempts! And hitting...SO, here they are...
Sean Murphy and Piscotty to the Pirates for left handed reliever Felipe Vasquez; this is a slight over pay but necessary to get the trade made. Pittsburgh needs a young catcher and the Athletics need an outstanding left handed reliever.
And....Puk, Armenteros, Barreto and Neuse for Cincinnati's ace right handed starter, Luis Castillo. It will take a phenomenal offer to pry him away. It may take an additional minor league pitcher.
Both Castillo and Vasquez are under contract through 2023. These are fantasy type trades, but not that far out of being possible. Imagine a starting staff in 2020 of Castillo, Luzardo, Montas, Manaea and Fiers. Imagine the second half of this season with Castillo, Vasquez and the return of a couple young aces.
Hoping the Athletics don't trade top farm talent for rentals.
