Deputies search for yawning burglary suspect
SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — A man with several warrants for his arrest was caught on camera making what authorities referred to as a series of “poor choices” in the West Salem hills Sunday morning.
Polk County deputies said 33-year-old William McGinnis knocked on the front door and “quickly realized the homeowner had a surveillance camera, which resulted in what appears to be a rather guilty looking yawn.”
McGinnis then tried to back his vehicle down to the house, but drove off the driveway and got stuck, according to deputies. Next, he is accused of breaking into a shop on the property to get tools to dig his car out, a mission that was not accomplished.
That’s when deputies say McGinnis broke into the home. The sheriff’s office said he ran off on foot, dropping some of the stolen belongings as well as a meth pipe.
McGinnis is already wanted for several warrants and now deputies hope to find him and talk to him about this burglary.
McGinnis is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes, and a tattoo on his right elbow that says “Union Pacific.”
Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.
