After a week of waiting, Andre Iguodala is now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Warriors officially sent the 2015 NBA Finals MVP to Memphis Sunday along with a protected first-round pick in exchange for forward Julian Washburn and a $17.2 million trade exception.
The deal opens up enough salary cap space for the Warriors to complete their sign-and-trade to acquire D’Angelo Russell from the Nets.

In the announcement of the move, Warriors CEO Joe Lacob praised Iguodala, saying despite high expectations when he arrived in 2013, the Warriors “actually underestimated what his value would be to our team, both on the court and in the locker room.”
Iguodala averaged just 7.3 points per game in the regular season as a Warrior, but his ability to guard any opponent’s best wing scorer was invaluable to Golden State, and he ramped up his contributions in the postseason.
“We thank Andre for all his contributions and look forward to seeing his number in the rafters at Chase Center,” Lacob said in the release.
Washburn arrives in Golden State on a two-way contract signed with Memphis in January. He played in 18 games for the Grizzlies last season, averaging 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds.
The Warriors must wait until next offseason to use the trade exception because they are hard capped in the NBA’s salary structure.
As for Iguodala, Memphis is said to be interested in sending him to yet another team, likely a contender.
