Five weeks today, we will see what the Newcastle team v Arsenal is on the opening day of the season.
To say that things are up in the air at the minute at St James Park would be understatement of the year.
Newcastle supporters having no idea of who the manager will be on 11 August , or indeed whether there will be a manager, never mind who the squad will be.
However, we can make an educated guess…
This is how the squad is looking after the departure of Perez, Diame, Barreca, Kenedy, Roberts, Rondon (and Rafa)…
Goalkeepers: Dubravka, Darlow, Woodman, Elliot
Full-backs: Yedlin, Sterry, Dummett, Manquillo, Lazaar
Central Defenders: Clark, Fernandez, Lascelles, Schar, Lejeune
Central Midfielders: Colback, Hayden, Ki, Longstaff, Shelvey, Saivet
Wingers: Ritchie, Aarons, Murphy, Atsu
Strikers: Gayle, Joselu, Muto, Almiron
Unless we get some positive news in the very near future, I think there is every chance we could lose Schar, Longstaff, Dubravka and Lascelles, as well as Hayden, who needs to leave for family reasons.
So I see this as currently the best case scenario when it comes to the Newcastle team v Arsenal for the opening game, plus subs:
Team;
Darlow, Yedlin, Lejeune, Clark, Dummett, Ritchie, Shelvey, Ki, Atsu, Almiron, Gayle
Subs:
Woodman, Manquillo, Colback, Joselu, Lazaar, Muto, Murphy
New signings welcome!
And a manager…
