Manufacturer for the aviation industry plans up to 100 jobs.
Broetje-Automation, a German-based supplier to the aviation industry, will move its U.S. headquarters to Elk Grove Village and become the first tenant in a new industrial park.
The company and village officials said Broetje will occupy 43,000 square feet in the first of four buildings now under construction. It will be part of Elk Grove Technology Park, an 85-acre site south of Higgins Road at King Street.
Officials said the company should be in place in October and could eventually employ 80 to 100 people at the location. Aside from being U.S. headquarters, the site also will be a production center for robotic systems and other manufacturing equipment.
Broetje spokesman Simon Schmidt said the company will move its U.S. base from Buffalo, New York, and will close a downtown Chicago office at 223 W. Jackson Blvd. He said about 22 people work at the two locations and it is not known how many will transfer to Elk Grove Village.
The company said it will hire specialized machine builders with mechanical and electrical skills, engineers in several disciplines and back office staff.
Developed by Brennan Investment Group, Elk Grove Technology Park is on land that used to include Busse Farm, long one of the largest available parcels near O’Hare Airport. It sits on the north end of the village’s main industrial park, which it calls the nation’s largest.
