One-time NBA Finals foe blasts the Warriors anew: ‘Golden State took (Kevin Durant) for granted’
Congratulate Kendrick Perkins on his new job. He is apparently now the official keeper of Kevin Durant’s legacy.
Perkins and Durant were teammates at Oklahoma City for five seasons. Apparently they remain good friends.
Perkins was at Game 5 of the NBA Finals in June when his buddy went down with a torn Achilles. After the game, he was interviewed by Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. Perkins said he had told Durant not to play, and was highly critical of the Warriors for letting him.
And it was Perkins earlier this week who referenced the awkward joke on the part of Bob Myers, the Warriors head of basketball operations, who was apparently wishing to have a jocular moment with Durant shortly before the 2018 victory parade. It fell flat. Perkins said he knew after that exchange, Durant had “one foot out the door.”
On Tuesday Perkins was at it again, appearing on ESPN’s “First Take” saying, “I think Golden State took (Durant) for granted.”
Perkins also fired off on Draymond Green for his part in the sideline spat with Durant last season. He then dropped the tweet on top:
“Since the Golden State fans think I’m A hater and just taking up for KD then why didn’t the owner announce that IGGY Jersey would also be retired yesterday? He was just as valuable to that organization as KD! Iggy was the first finals MVP of their first Championship!”
Somebody needs an editor.
“Last thing and I’m done with Golden State! So Golden State took out a full page ad congratulating Toronto but didn’t do it for it Cleveland! Was it because of the Kyle Lowry thing? Hidden agendas!!!”
Seems like something is eating at Perkins.
