Week 8 of The Bachelorette delivered a few explosive revelations (sex in a windmill!?), and another baffling Rose Ceremony decision from Hannah B. We’ll be recapping each episode and ranking all the contestants weekly on FTW.

Peter avoided Luke-related drama almost entirely, which earns him the No. 1 spot heading into hometowns. Peter benefitted from Luke sabotaging Garrett on their three-man group date, and did just enough to earn the rose himself.
He’s going to have to offer something more than his weekly “I’m just so excited to be here, you’re so great” shtick if he plans on earning Hannah’s final rose, though.

Tyler scored one-on-one date with Hannah, and he was forced to conquer two major fears: Horses and… pickled herring.
Tyler and Hannah rode horses along the streets and sampled some local street food, and Tyler revealed a very weird phobia.
“Pickled herring is like one of my worst nightmares.”
Things got a bit awkward later on, when Hannah asked Tyler to describe how he’s struggling with the process of the show. Tyler was unable to provide anything but the most vague of answers, which led Hannah to worry about his ability to open up.
That night, Hannah brought up their earlier conversation, and Tyler launched into a story about his parents’ failed marriage. It felt like a big revelation Tyler had pre-planned, but it didn’t really explain why he wasn’t able to open up emotionally and answer her question on the date. It feels like we could be revisiting this issue in the coming weeks.

Garrett predicted that Luke P. would try to sabotage him on their group date, and he was right. When he finally sat down with Hannah, she brought up a sensationalized story Luke had told her, and Garrett was forced to defend himself instead of trying to focus on his own relationship.
Back in the waiting area, Garrett relentlessly trolled Luke for his behavior, and delivered some of the best moments of the season.
That night at the two-man cocktail party, Garrett excitedly talked to Hannah about their impending hometown date, and thanked her for helping him grow as a man since their first meeting. Garrett then dropped an L-bomb.
“It hit me like a ton of bricks today…. I love you. I love you.”
Unfortunately for Garrett, Hannah was unable to see past Luke P.’s manipulative tactics, and she gave the rose to a man who “not only opened up their heart, but inside their heart.” Whatever that means.
You deserved better, Garrett. If he doesn’t show up in Paradise, there’s a decent chance Garrett could return as the next Bachelor.

Jed received the first one-on-one date of the show, and enjoyed a day exploring the city with Hannah.
Hannah admitted in a confessional that she was ready to open up about her feelings for Jed, and during the date, she said there was a moment that made her realize her feelings were real. For the first time all season, Hannah admitted that she’s falling in love with one of the guys – but there may be trouble on the horizon.
It was reported in recent weeks that Jed was dating a woman for several months before he left to film Hannah B.’s season. As a reminder, Jed also admitted to Hannah a few weeks ago that he initially chose to appear on the Bachelorette as a way to further his music career. Hannah doesn’t seem to take red flags into consideration, however, so he’s probably safe.

Poor Mike. He had a delightful afternoon with Hannah in an art studio, only to show up later that night to find that Hannah had already decided his fate.
When Mike showed up for his dinner date, he arrived right as Hannah had just finished bawling at various paintings. She explained that she had never been surrounded by so much beauty, and she was a bit overwhelmed.
Mike encouraged Hannah to open up about how she feels, and Hannah brought up Mike’s concern from earlier in the season that he may have his heart broken. Hannah said that she knows she’s not the right person for Mike to bring home to his family.
Highlight of the show: Mike remarked that there were “six great guys” remaining in a group conversation with Luke P. involved. Luke didn’t seem to realize that there were seven guys remaining at the time, and he’s clearly No. 7.
Last week: 6
After being relegated to the group date, Connor showed up at Hannah’s hotel room following her date with Tyler. Hannah told Connor that she felt like he “faded” in group dates. Hannah admitted that she was involved in other relationships she felt better about, and may not be able to see a future with him.
(Come on, Hannah. If you didn’t see a future with the guy because he wasn’t a standout in group dates, why did you keep him on the show just to stick him on another group date?)
Connor never really caught a break this season, but hopefully he’ll be a late arrival in Paradise and have another chance at love.
Last week: 12
At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Luke P. earned the final rose and proposed to Hannah. This season is an absolute disaster.
Luke was the first man to talk to Hannah during the group date, and he immediately went on the offensive. He called out Jed’s behavior, which “concerns” him for Hannah’s sake, and lied about a conversation the previous day with Garrett.
“I wish you were a fly on the wall and see their character be exposed. I’ve done nothing.”
Hannah, disappointingly, seemed to buy Luke’s lies, and said that she doesn’t understand why the other guys “won’t be kind to you.”
Afterward, Luke squared off against Garrett, and dropped a pile of bologna in his lap.
That night, Luke decided to tell Hannah the story of the time God spoke to him in the shower. Luke explained that, after a life of chasing “fleshly desires,” he heard a message from above.
God: “Luke, let it go.”
Luke then looked up, and saw a vision of heaven. Hannah appreciated Luke’s honesty, and then interrupted him to ask if he’d like to kiss her.
(There is no hope for Hannah, I fear.)
Luke will not only receive a hometown date, but the episode preview seemed to show him on an overseas fantasy suite date (where he tells Hannah that pre-marital sex is unacceptable and is quickly thrown off the show). At least Hannah is owning up to her errors while watching the show.
