Nissan has something special in store for the Nissan GT-R, which celebrates its 50 years anniversary in time for the 2020 model year. Botchi Santos, who is in Europe for an exclusive test drive, reports:
The 2020 Nissan R35 GT-R NISMO is evolution rather than revolution. Small, minute improvements to the entire car, coupled with revised algorithm for the various electronics has created the pinnacle of R35 GTR development.
These include components used in the GT-R’s racing competition in the GT-3 series: race-proven turbochargers; carbon ceramic brake rotors; retuned suspension; faster, adaptive shifting; and GT-3 style fender louvers. Engine output is a massive 600hp and 652 Nm.
There are gorgeous 20-inch RAYS forged aluminum wheels, a nine-spoke design that saves on weight. Further weight savings for comes courtesy of carbon fiber roof panel, front and rear bumpers, front fenders, hood, trunk and rear spoiler. There’s also a new seat design for holding down the driver’s shoulder blades.
The result is far greater than the sum of all its minute improvements, a definitive leap from all other R35s. The GT-R NISMO earns its title as King of the JDM sports cars, much like its pop-culture namesake, Godzilla.
