Mum claims her natural nits cure made her 10-year-old daughter’s hair grow down to her calves
A MUM has revealed her secret nits remedy that she claims helped her 10-year-old daughter grow her locks down to her calves.
Australian Patti took to SBS TV show Medicine or Myth to share her combination of essential oils that she claims rids of head lice instantly and wards them off forever.
Daughter Mia was two when she first came home with nits after picking them up at daycare – but Patti already had an all-natural solution in mind.
Using a mixture of lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree and rosemary oils in her daughters hair every morning, the home remedy rid the 10-year-old of lice forever.
And Patti also claims that her remedy also promoted extra hair growth in her daughter, who used the oils every day for five years, and now has hair past her thighs.
The mum explained on the show: “Tea tree is the active ingredient that kills the actual live lice and kill the eggs – but tea tree alone leaves hair like straw.
“So the rosemary and lavender makes it a bit softer and helps the hair grown well – but you have to be persistent and use it every day.”
The remedy was first passed on to Patti by her daughter’s pre-school teacher, but the mum has since refined the recipe to find the best combination.
Patti makes her remedy by adding five drops of each oil into a spray bottle, before applying to her daughter’s luscious locks.
She then gentle massages the oils through her scalp and brushes the remainder through Mia’s hair with her fingers – together they practice this ritual every day.
“It’s a lot of work but it’s well worth it,” Pattie continued. “Our all natural head lice repellent has been preventative for us for five and a half years.”
The show’s panel of experts were stunned to see Mia’s long hair and hear how she had managed to evade the pesky pests for so long.
And while they confirmed the science behind Patti’s remedy ‘certainly works’, they didn’t put the product forward for trial due to ‘scientific problems’.
