Boy, 17, dead and four in hospital after taking MDMA
A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has died and four other teens rushed to hospital after taking MDMA.
Police said two other 17-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and one remains in custody.
Cops were called to a house in Stratford, in Warwickshire, in the early hours of Sunday morning after being informed the teen had gone into cardiac arrest.
The boy, who was from Stratford, was taken to hospital where he died a few hours later.
Four other boys were also rushed to hospital but have all now been discharged.
Detective Inspector Lisa Sears from Warwickshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.
“At this time, we believe the boys may have taken a type of a drug called ‘Mandy’, a type of MDMA (also known as ecstasy).
“We are keeping an open mind as to whether this was a bad batch of drugs, a bad reaction or an overdose.
“While we are investigating to establish how the boy died we would urge local drug users to be very cautious.
“While we can’t yet confirm cause of death, we would like to remind people of the dangers of taking drugs.
“There is no safe way of taking drugs, and no way of knowing exactly what you are putting into your body and whether it is safe.”

It comes after a 19-year-old man’s death was linked to an especially strong type of ecstasy known as ‘punisher’ pills.
Harley Girven, also known as Harley Mason, was found dead in his flat on the Isle of Wight at about midday on Saturday.
Hampshire Constabulary has described his death as “unexplained”.
The force has warned people about the blue, triangular tablets which have about three times the amount of MDMA – the active agent in ecstasy.
A 16-year-old girl from East Cowes and a 17-year-old boy from Newport, who were at the scene when police arrived, have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
They have since been released under investigation and their arrests are not directly connected with the death, police said.
