Ashley Plumb and Jack Reemtsma were named to the prestigious 2019 Google Cloud NAIA Academic All-America Track & Field/Cross Country Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). They were both voted to the first team.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America Team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA institutions, and are selected based on the students' work on the field and in the classroom. Nominees must be starters or important reserves, sophomores or older, with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages.
Plumb, a senior from Macomb, Ill., is now a two-time First Team Academic All-American. She set a school record in the 5K with her time of 18:29 at the NAIA Cross Country Championships in the fall. Plumb earned all-conference honors in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field this year. She was named a CCAC Athlete of the Week three times this year and was named the NAIA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Sept. 3.
Reemtsma, a senior from Bettendorf, Iowa, finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He also competed in the 400-meter dash. Reemtsma was also a national qualifier in the 60-meter dash at the indoor championships. This year, he won conference championships in the indoor 400-meter dash, the indoor 60-meter hurdles and the outdoor 400-meter hurdles.
Plumb and Reemtsma are the third and fourth Bees to earn Academic All-America honors this year, joining Katie Reitz (second team women's soccer) and Morgan Krieger (first team softball).
