Coby White had a priceless reaction to UNC teammate Cam Johnson getting drafted

Coby White was selected at No. 7 overall by the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Draft on Thursday, but it was actually his reaction to hearing his North Carolina teammate was drafted that captured the hearts of fans everywhere.

At his press conference after the Bulls picked the freshman guard out of UNC, reporters informed him that Cam Johnson, who was a grad transfer with the Tar Heels last season, was selected at No. 11 by the Phoenix Suns. The 6-foot-9 forward is one of the oldest players in this year’s NBA Draft, and he was not projected to go this high.

When White was asked for his reaction to that news, he was in absolute disbelief – not because he didn’t think it was possible, but because he was simply ecstatic about his teammate getting picked so high.

Just priceless.

He said:

“He went what?! Cam Johnson 11th?! Wow. Wow. Wow! Bro, that’s crazy! That’s so love, bro. If y’all know Cam, you all know how hard Cam worked. And, you know, it’s a lot of people that doubt him. But wow! That’s crazy, bro. Wow, that’s so crazy.

“I’m so happy for him right now. Y’all don’t understand how happy I am for Cam ’cause he proved it night in and night out that he deserves to be in the conversation for a lottery pick, man. He shot the ball like anyone I’ve never seen before in my life or played with. Wow, bro! I’m getting chills up here!”

That video is the perfect definition of friendship. It’s being so overwhelmed with joy about something great happening to a friend that you just can’t even describe your emotions.

Shooting 50.6 percent from the field and 45.7 percent from the 3-point line, Johnson led UNC this season with 16.9 points per game. White led the team with 4.1 assists and shot 42.2 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc.
