Zara Tindall raises eyebrows after wearing an above-the-knee dress to Royal Ascot

THIS WEEK Zara Tindall has shown off her impeccable style and fun personality at Royal Ascot with the Queen and other members of the family.

Yesterday was Ladies Day, and she dressed to the nines in a teal dress that had a high neckline and ruffled bodice.

But while she certainly raised the fashion stakes, some fans speculated whether Zara, 38, broke the Ascot rules due to her dress looking to be on the shorter side.

Her Ascot outfit fell above her knees, but it turns out that the royal would have just passed the strict regulations.

The rules say dresses must be a “modest length”, and this means “above the knee or longer” – meaning her outfit was passable.

According to the guidebook, dress straps must also be a least one inch thick and hats are compulsory.

No fascinators are allowed, and headpieces need to have a solid base of 10cm or more in diameter.

The rules changed a few years ago, so women could wear jumpsuits if they fancied it.

The royals were out in full force earlier this week, and the sweet bond between Prince Charles and Zara Tindall was on display for all to see.

The uncle, 70, and niece were pictured throwing their arms around each other and laughing at the famous racing event – and a royal expert has said they are closer than Charles is to Kate or Meghan.

Zara opted for a floral ankle-length dress and baby blue, asymmetric hat for the racing event.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge dazzled in a £1,275 blue lace creation by Elie Saab.

Camilla, wearing a pastel pink, shared her carriage with her husband and Prince William, who both wore a suit and top hat – as per royal enclosure regulations.

Zara married rugby played Mike Tindall in 2011, and the couple now have two daughters; Mia Grace, five, and Lena Elizabeth, one.

Meghan Markle has allegedly been nicknamed the ‘degree wife’ by senior royal who claims her marriage to Prince Harry will ‘only last three years’.

Meanwhile, one of Prince Harry’s former friends Lizzie Cundy claimed earlier this year that Meghan Markle has pushed Prince Harry’s friends out since their move to Frogmore Cottage.
