Anthony Carrigan to Star Opposite Kevin Hart in ‘Fatherhood’
Anthony Carrigan, a fan favorites on the HBO series “Barry,” has joined Kevin Hart in the cast of the Sony Pictures drama “Fatherhood,” an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.
Carrigan will play Hart’s best friend in the adaptation of “Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love,” Matthew Logelin’s best-selling memoir. He joins a cast that already features Alfre Woodard and the young Melody Hurd as Hart’s daughter.
Paul Weitz is directing the film that’s based on the true story of Logelin, whose wife died shortly after childbirth, leaving him to raise their daughter Maddy on his own.

Dana Stevens wrote the adaptation of Logelin’s book, with Weitz writing the current draft. Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and David Beaubaire are producing along with Free Association’s Peter Kiernan and Hart, for his HartBeat Productions company.
“Fatherhood” is Hart’s next film after he finishes the still untitled “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” sequel, which is also set up at Sony.
Carrigan plays NoHo Hank on HBO’s “Barry,” an affable, good-natured but still capable Chechen mobster who befriends and enlists Bill Hader’s assassin, Barry. Carrigan has previously starred on the shows “Gotham,” “The Flash” and “Parenthood.” He was also recently represented on TheWrap’s annual Innovator’s List and spoke on behalf of his work on “Barry” at TheGrill, TheWrap’s annual conference on the convergence of entertainment and tech.
Carrigan is represented by ICM Partners and he is managed by Colleen Schlegel at Schlegel Entertainment.
