White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will leave her position in President Donald Trump’s administration at the end of June, Trump tweeted on Thursday afternoon.
Sanders, a consistent Trump defender, has been with the White House since Trump took office in 2017, first as deputy press secretary. She also worked on Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
“After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas,” Trump tweeted. “She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas.”
Trump has not yet named a replacement for the position.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
