JUST IN: Why tribunal should cancel February 23 presidential election - HDP, Oworu
The Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and its presidential candidate, Albert Oworu, on Thursday, June 13, prayed the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) to cancel the February 23 presidential election.
Oworu, in his description, referred to the presidential poll as a mere “referendum” and not an election.

The New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in their petition marked CA/ PEPC/001/2019, the party, urged the tribunal to nullify the outcome of the election and order a fresh poll.
Owuru who secured a total of 1,663 in the presidential election, insisted that the election was not conducted in compliance with the electoral act.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the PEPT on Monday, June 10, dismissed the petition of the Coalition for Change (C4C) against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23 presidential election.
The counsel representing Peresident Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wole Olanipekun and Lateef Fagbemi, informed the court that their clients were yet to be served with a copy of the petition.

Olanipekun said at the last adjourned date, the panel had granted an application for substituted service but that up till Monday morning, the petitioners were yet to serve the processes on the first respondent.
