A waste of resources. A drain on society. Defective. Human weeds.
These are words that have been used by dictators, eugenicists and others to dehumanize certain groups of human beings and justify human rights atrocities through the ages. Margaret Sanger used this type of language when she founded Planned Parenthood more than a century ago.
Last week, Alabama abortionist Yashica Robinson used similar language to explain why she would refuse to provide medical care to newborn babies who are born alive after botched abortions.
In a video that the Susan B. Anthony List shared, Robinson can be seen testifying in front of U.S. Congress.
One of the representatives asked her about the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act, which Democrats repeatedly have blocked in the U.S. House and Senate. The bill would require that infants who survive abortions be provided the same level of medical care as any other baby born at that gestational age.
Robinson responded that she potentially would provide that care for some babies but not for all of them.

“Generally, when there is a pregnancy that we induce in the third trimester, it’s for fetal indications,” she said. “And in that case, those fetuses are not going to live outside the womb. They have medical diagnoses that would prevent that.”
Robinson said babies are not born alive in Alabama abortion clinics, and laws already protect them if they do.
“… but I would tell you if it ever did happen, I would say we should transfer those babies … and for those that are born because of fetal anomalies, they can’t live outside the womb so I would be against implementing any heroic measures in transferring to the hospital. It would be a waste of resources,” she said.
According to OB/GYN Dr. Yashica Robinson, babies with anomalies who survive #abortion attempts should not be cared for because it would be a “waste of resources.”

“No baby is a waste of resources, Dr. Robinson,” the Susan B. Anthony List responded on Twitter.
Strong evidence contradicts Robinson’s claims about late-term abortions. Stories, research and statements by abortion activists themselves indicate that most abortions on viable unborn babies are not done for health reasons.
But even if she was right, unborn babies with disabilities also deserve medical care. At the very least, a dying baby deserves comfort care and pain management until they pass. But many babies with fetal anomalies are not dying. They have Down syndrome, spina bifida or other serious but not life-threatening disabilities that require extra care to survive.
They are not wastes of time or effort simply because their lives may be shorter or require more intensive medical care to survive. Abortion activists are trying to convince society that it is ok to discriminate against babies for these very reasons, but a baby who has a disability is just as human and just as worthy of the care and respect that society provides to any other human being.
