Here’s why Spurs haven’t announced that Llorente is leaving
Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente has had a good season in North London, playing a crucial role in the club’s brilliant Champions League run.
The 34-year-old has scored some important goals against the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City and played a pivotal part in Lucas Moura’s impressive hat-trick against Ajax in the semi-final second leg in Amsterdam.
Despite the heart and the character he has shown whenever he has been called upon, it looks like the Spaniard’s time at the club has come to an end.
The World Cup winner’s name was included in the released list that the club submitted to the Premier League, rather than in the retained list.
However, while the club has already announced that the likes of Michel Vorm and academy youngsters Dylan Duncan, Charlie Freeman, Tom Glover, Connor Ogilvie and Jamie Reynolds, will be leaving, they are yet to make any such announcement about the former Juventus striker.
Football.London has now revealed that the club is yet to do so since Llorente has three more weeks left on his contract, and so theoretically, there is nothing stopping the forward from signing an extension with the club in those three weeks.
However, the fact that he has been listed on the released list confirms that he is not in Pochettino’s plans for next season, and an announcement thus looks imminent.

While we are extremely appreciative for what Llorente has done for the team this season, the nature of football means that this separation is inevitable as the Spaniard is said to be on fairly high wages.
Spurs fans will certainly have fond memories of the Basque-born striker.
